Product Information
Fitting Instructions

The UAP high security and high quality door handles have been ergonomically designed to leave the door with a smooth, clean and modern finish. The door handle is available in 2 different size backplates, depending on what locking system your door uses. To know what size backplate you will need, look at the handle dimensions below and compare the fixing centres to what you currently have on your door.

The high security door handle has been designed to stop advanced attack methods used by today’s burglars, which includes an integrated cylinder guard to resist drilling attacks, and it protects against cylinder and handle snapping, which is a very common burglary method. Unlike other door handles, self-adhesive backing tabs on both the internal and external handle add to the attack resistance, and assist easy fitting. It also aids water penetration resistance, which stops the door handle rotting from the inside.

Door Handle Features:

1.High security aluminium door handle
2. Anti drill resisitance
3. Water penetration resistance supported by self-adhesive tabs
4. 10 Year colour fast coating guarantee

Live Near The Coast?

Products pitting and rusting near the coast is a very common problem due to the salt in the air

If you live near the coast (defined as within 25 miles away) or within 5 miles of a heavily populated industrial area, it is a very common problem for door hardware to pit and rust (usually within 6 months of it being fitted). The high concentration of salt and chemicals in the air corrodes most metals including brass, zinc, zamak, nickel and more.

UAP have developed a range of products developed specifically for the coast - called Nanocoast. These products are made from 304 grade stainless steel, and have been salt spray tested to ASTM B117:2005 for 2000+ hours (the industry standard is 480 hours).

UAP are so confident with the quality of their Nanocoast products that they offer a LIFETIME coating guarantee, meaning that they will not pit or rust no matter where you put them in the country!

If you require a Nanocoast letterbox, please make sure you select PVD gold, mirror polished or satin stainless finishes above.

Fitting Instructions

Removing Your Old Door Handle

You will first have to take off your old handles and spindle by unscrewing the 2 screws on the inside of the handle.

Fitting Your New Door Handle

1. Fit the new spindle from the handle set into the lock to replace the old spindle.

2. Offer the external handle (with the BSi Kitemark logo) to the outside of the door, and make sure the screw holes on the new handle line up with the holes left from the old handle.*

3. Turn the lever of the handle left or right depending on how the door opens. Fit the outside handle over the spindle, making sure the spindle also goes through the spring cassette. You may have to wiggle the spindle to open the spring jaws slightly.

4. Push the handle towards the door and when the handle is straight, remove the paper backing on  the self-adhesive tab and press the handle gently against the door. The self-adhesive pad is an important part of the protection system.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the internal handle, but do not remove the paper backing.

5. Insert the 2 bolts supplied into the external handle, and turn the bolts 3 or 4 full times to ensure they are lined up with the external handle correctly.

6. Insert your new cylinder into the handle (see instructions below) and make sure that it is fitted the correct way around.

7. Once everything is lined up, remove the paper backing on the self-adhesive tab on the internal handle (use a Stanley blade to make it easier to peel).

8. Make sure the internal handle is straight, and push it gently against the door. Fully tighten up the 2 bolts.

9. Make sure the door handles work smoothly, and the new lock also works smoothly.
*If this is not the case, put your old handles back onto your door, and email our helpdesk.

Cleaning Your Door Handle

Every month, wipe the door handle over with a moist cloth and remove any dust particles that may have accumulated. Finish off by wiping the door handle with a lint free cloth.
