Live Near The Coast?

Products pitting and rusting near the coast is a very common problem due to the salt in the air

If you live near the coast (defined as within 25 miles away) or within 5 miles of a heavily populated industrial area, it is a very common problem for door hardware to pit and rust (usually within 6 months of it being fitted). The high concentration of salt and chemicals in the air corrodes most metals including brass, zinc, zamak, nickel and more.

UAP have developed a range of products developed specifically for the coast - called Nanocoast. These products are made from 316 grade stainless steel, and have been salt spray tested to ASTM B117:2005 for 2000+ hours (the industry standard is 480 hours).

UAP are so confident with the quality of their Nanocoast products that they offer a LIFETIME coating guarantee, meaning that they will not pit or rust no matter where you put them in the country!

Fitting Instructions

Fitting Your Identity Card Slot

1 – You will first have to cut out a cavity hole in the side of your door using a saw. Hole size needed is 15mm (wide) x 115mm (high).

2 - Take the interior part of the ID slot (the one which the latch fits into) and see if it will fit through the hole in the door you have created. If it does then push the interior part through the door and hold it with one hand. With the door open, slide the exterior part into the door cavity and it will slot into the interior part.

3 - Line up the two parts of the ID slot perfectly and then use the 2 screws supplied to secure the interior part. Use a screwdriver to tighten it up but do not use power tools to tighten up the screws.

How To use Your Identity Card Slot

When a visitor knockers on your door, simply lift up the latch on the inside of your door, and ask them to pass their ID through (all tradesmen are required by law to carry ID).

This will then allow you to check the ID to make sure you are happy that the person at the door is who they say they are, and then you can make the decision of whether to open the door or not.

When the visitor leaves, simply replace the latch so no spam can be posted through the slot.

Cleaning Your Identity Card Slot

Every month, wipe the ID card slot over with a moist cloth and remove any dust particles that may have accumulated, and finish off by wiping the ID card slot with a lint free cloth.
